Register that domain name with a domain registering company.

And get a host. First, you have to make sure someone doesn't have it registered and it is just sitting inactive. Use WHOIS to do that.

Go to "www.checkdomain.com" and type in the domain like "yahoo.com" and see if its registered. If its not registered then go find a place to register the domain...such as "www.namecheap.com"

after you register with WHOIS, do you own it forever? And after i register it, i can make a website for it correct?

Eh. You don't register with WHOIS. You use WHOIS to find out if a site is registered. Do like Chiwawa said and follow his steps.

$8.88 per year for domain registration.

Agreed.

You only own the domain (http:// website address) for however long you purchase it for which is a yearly basis.

$8.88 = 1 year ownership
$88.88 = 10 year ownership

You can pay for just 1 year now $8.88 and buy another year anytime you want within the next 12 months.

Mak0602 - I received your PM reply. I think people here (including myself) misunderstood your question.

You should edit your thread title and original post to reflect that you want information on submitting your website to a search engine.

my first question was about how to buy a domain, now my question is how to submit my future website to a search engine 🙂

Ah ok gotcha.

I know the answer to your first question but not about submitting it to search engines.

You should check out http://www.webhostingtalk.com

Do you have a web host yet? Buying a domain is good but if you don't have a host then the website won't be alive.

Wow this is painful to watch. You need to hook up with someone who knows what their doing and have them explain the process to you.

A registrar like namecheap is where you register your domain. Basically giving you the right to use it.

A web host provides space on a server for you to house your html/php/asp files which make up your site. When people type in your domain name in a browser it loads the pages that are stored on the web hosts server.
