The ability to overclock will depend on the motherboard and BIOS. The speed of a CPU is the product of two factors -- the speed of the FSB, and a multiplier. The multipliers of P4's (well, all Pentiums for a long time now) are locked, meaning that the only way to overclock is to increase the speed of the FSB. You'll need to look in your BIOS to see what options you have for doing this.

That's the short answer. Achieving maximum performance overclocking can involve lots of other details and BIOS tweaks (such as memory timings, bus ratios or dividers, and so forth). I have zero experience with P4's, so someone else will have to go into the details for you.

You got a P4??? then 1 choice (unless it's 1 engineer unlocked square) and that is to up the FSB (Front Side Bus)
