Setting up a MagicJack? I think this should work... I don't know if MJ uses a separate program so you might need to set the file location with a custom rule type, but this should get the right ports forwarded. Fired up Windows Firewall just for this.

Windows Button -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Windows Firewall
Inbound Rules -> New Rule...

Rule Type: Port
Apply rule to UDP, set specific ports to 5060-5070 (if using a custom profile, set these to the "local ports")
Action: Allow the connection
When this rule applies: Should be "private" but essentially whatever the current network profile is set to in Windows' Network and Sharing Center (in control panel).

Sorry. Some years ago that domain had a site which hosted many guides for port forwarding.

thanks, i copied the info to send email to mom. hopefully she can understand it. She's pretty bad with electoronics, for instance i recently got her a Roku wireless version, she has a router, but then tells me i got the wrong kind, she needs the one with the wire. i'm like mom, you got a router, thats the main point of a router...so i'm sure i'll have to explain how to set all that up and i never owned a Roku...but she lives far away so kinda tough for me to help.

The magic jack, i dunno...i think their junk myself. what kind of POS would make things so difficult when they say you just plug it in and go? BS if you ask me. She needs to at least get the new one that doesnt require a computer.

If your mother can follow that, she's a Dennis Ritchie in comparison to my mother :^D

I like the idea of MagicJack, but I've never used one. Phone service doesn't get much cheaper if it works for you. I'd get one in a heartbeat if I needed some kind of pseudo landline.

If she can't follow the instructions to complete the changes, have her download and run a copy of the free standalone Teamviewer client. Then you should be able to launch a copy on your own machine and remotely do the adjustments to her machine yourself.

well she told me her comcast is wired, not wireless. lol. sigh.
so i tried to explain the concept of that router she has and havnt got reply yet...but i doubt she understands.

i may have to do as Steltek mentioned going remotely. I'm not totally sure she hooked up that router. Then assuming i get that lined out, i never had Roku so i dunno how easy it is for it to detect to her wireless, but i assume its retard proof.
i'm getting quite aggrevated.
