How do I open my watch to change the battery? Is there a special tool I need?

I've got a few watches which have a round plate on the back with 6 little notches on the sides. I assume there is a special tool that is needed to open these things? Where can I buy one? 😕

Yes, there is a tool that is used to open them.

I'll try to find you one.

Here you go

With that kind of prices, I'd take it somewhere & pay the $5 to have it done for you. You'd have to go through a hell of a lot of watch batteries to make buying the tool worthwhile.

Just go to one of those guys in the watch booths at the mall. They charge you something like $6-$8 for the labor and a new battery. 5 minute job for them.

Holy crap! Those are pricey. I have 2 watches I need to change the batteries on. It's off to the jewerly store I go...

Not to mention... usually watches with that type of back have a rubber gasket seal in order to keep them waterproof, if that comes off and you cant get it back on *and its almost impossible to get the damn thing back on* then your stuck with a leaky watch, at a jewlery s tore your just stuck with a new wactch =)

Yet another reason to get it done, forgot all about the non-reusable gaskets (haven't worn a watch in years).

Not expensive HERE, $5.99 + Shipping..

That is quite cheap, & would be handy to have around.

If you cared about water-proofing you would need a supply of the seals as well...

good luck getting the back on w/o the proper tools
alot of them are now setup where you have to apply equal pressure all over the back to have it pop in
learned that the hard way 😱
