How do I open an .wps file? What and where can I download the software to open that type of file. Thanks,

Sounds like a Microsoft Works Word Processing file. It can be opened via MS works or MS word. Open Office may also open it.

.wps is a microsoft works program (default crap that comes along w/ most preinstalled os's, like my dell)

you need to d/l a conversion patch that lets microsoft word read it (i had the same problem)

unless i'm mistaken, word '97 and up will read works documents without the need for a patch.

Nope, you need the converter at least up to Word 2K. I haven't tried it with Word 2002.

the patch is for MS word that allows you to view MS works files. It's only required it you have a copy of word OLDER than Word 2000. It can be found @ microsoft's site.

I have office XP, and one of my professors posted files in wps format, and I could not open them in Word. I had to download the converter.
