I finally got my alpha 8942T for my p4 machine, but now how do I mount it? I've never built a p4 machine before. I'm using socket 478 and my mobo has one of those black plastic frames around the socket. the 8942T is supposed to be designed to screw into 4 holes around the socket, but on the black frame thing, the 4 holes are filling with little white fasteners. here's a pic of the mobo and one of the heatsink and mounting hardware that came with it

you are supposed to take off the black mounting gear on the motherboard

i believe you take off the white things from teh bottom of motherboard first, then its easier

btw your links are dead

Take your MoBo out of the case and turn it over. Those 4 white plastic pointed pins need to be pushed out from the bottom side. They wedge the balck plastic frome onto the board. After you take the frame off you use the four holes to mount the studs for the fan. Don't overtighten the nuts.
