Hi,

I just bought a brand new Dell workstation T-7500 without any Pre Installed Winows but only DOS installed.

I have a Dell XPS System with a Hard Drive that has Win-7 installed in its own partition with data in other 4 partitions.

I want to use that hard drive in new workstation.

I tried using it as it is with no luck.

It did something called initializing & some other MPT ROM etc which I know nothing about & then crashed.

I also put in Win 7 DVD to repair windows, but that didn’t help either.

Do I need to format OS Partition & fresh install Windows -7 ?

OR does this new PC needs some kind of initialization OR other stuff ?

I have no knowledge of DOS Commands.

Thanks

Even if you succeed, that is against Windows OEM license. Windows 7 that you got with laptop is tied with it.

Who uses DOS?

DOS has not really been used since Windows 3.1?????

Maybe it loads a bios in DOS.

Well if you had a Win 7 disk you might be able to install it fresh. Using Xeon processors might mean you have to use something like win 7 ultimate or a server OS. Website said it has an Intel Turbo mode in tHE BIOS.

IF you have a retail copy of Windows 7, you can legally move it to the new system.
IF it is the OEM copy that came with your XPS, you are out of luck.

Piasabird is also correct that if you have the dual socket version of the T7500, then you will need Professional or higher.
