How do I manually backup the registry in XP?

Title says it, I want to make achange to the registry but I want to back it up first in case of a disaster.

If you want to back up just one key, start regedt, highlight the key you want to back up, and go to File, Export, and save it out as a hive file. (Or a .reg file if you prefer.)

If you want to back up the entire registry, run ntbackup, start the backup wizard, and back up the system state data.
