How they're connected?
You should be able to use UNC paths like Goosemaster said to connect to the other host and access a shared medium. If it's a lot of stuff from all over you should just mount the drive (have to set permissions for this) and copy it that way.

I have windows media center on the new PC. windows xp home on the old pc
they are connected using a router.

The method Goosemaster and I described should work fine. If it's a lot of data it might be quicker to just put the drive in the other computer and copy it over IDE or whatever.
