How do I make my storage solution work properly?

Okay, don't get me wrong, I really do like Windows 10. My computer runs better than it did before and some of the little glitches I had with W7 are now gone. The problem I have is that I had certain hard drives set for certain things. I had my capture video on D, my rendered video on E, my pictures, music, and docs on F. If I use the default storage folders in the settings along with that new folders are created and I can't place things exactly where I want them. What can I do? Anyone else in this dilemma?
 
I guess I didn't explain it very well. The drives are labeled the way I want them. W10 creates new folders if I set it that way in settings. I don't know how to explain it any different. Apparently you guys don't use 10 or don't assign folders to anything other than the C drive. Or maybe I'm just stupid? 🙂
 
W10 doesn't change my folders when I swap drive letters. Any storage settings that I use remain intact which is why we're not understanding what you're telling us unless it's that you keep telling 10 to create folders and then you are upset at it for doing what you just set it to do. If you set a program to store in a particular folder on a particular drive 10 will not change it.
 
It doesn't change mine either. Maybe I just don't understand how W10 works? Are you familiar with the storage settings in W10? The Save locations? It says change where your apps, documents etc. are saved by default. It says New apps will save to and then all of them say by default they will save to C drive. Can someone explain this to me? Maybe I am just not understanding how this works properly. Thanks.

See the drop down menu? That is where you select drive.
If those drive letters are not what you want them to be, go into disk management, and assign those drive new letters.
 
My drives are labeled correctly in management. It is directing my folders to the right drives is what I am trying to solve.
 
Yes, it is using the correct location but it creates a whole new folder in that disk and not the one that I had before. Is there anything I can do about it?

So, it is using the correct drive/partition, but, isn't using the same directory on the drive/partition?
What is the new name, and what is the old name?

You could simply copy the stuff over from old to new as well.
 
Correct. When I went into the storage for the first time it was directing all of my new stuff to the C folder. I was not familiar enough with W10 and I thought all stuff would go to the designated drives that I had them assigned before. When I noticed things going on to the C drive and found out in the storage of settings that all the new stuff was designated to the C drive. When I switched the settings to the designated drives, it created new folders in all of those drives.
 
How are you directing the data to the drives? Each program has preference settings and if they've change reset them to how you wan them. I did have to change my settings in individual programs to send data to the exact drive and folder I wanted it to appear in.
 
I had them changed in properties and location when I was at W7. When I go into properties and locations it shows that Doc are in D drive etc.
 
I think I understand what is happening.

If you change the default location under Settings -> Storage, it will change the location. However, the file will go under the user account.

If you change the default from the c drive to the d drive, the folder will go from:
C:\Users\<user>\Documents
to
D:\Users\<user>\Documents

If you want the target to be plain old D:\, in File Explorer, right click on 'Documents' in the quick access table of contents. Choose Properties, then the Location tab. Choose the Move button. You can change the path to D:\.
 
I guess I could just change the default to whatever Windows uses as that folder. Just change it and everything will go into that folder. It will take a long time for my videos to move but I should be okay I guess.
 
I guess I could change my location I had created and change it to where windows wants to put it. I guess maybe that will work.
