How do I make my soundcard outupt Dolby AC3 encoded sound?

My soundcard outputs PCM sound right now, but it doesn't output 5.1 channel sound that way. The only way I can have it output 5.1 channel sound is to send it out as AC3 encoded to my AC3 decoder, which then goes to my subwoofer/amplifier. Is there any way to do this. Thanks!

The only sound option that I know off (if there's something else, like something much more expensive, or an outboard device, LMK) that encodes and outputs sound as Dolby Digital is the built-in APU of the nvidia nForce chipset. Earlier drivers outputs stereo sound as Dolby Digital but only as two channel Dolby Digital. The latest drivers allow you to output stereo into 5.1 Dolby Digital across its digital coax output (which is REALLY cool).
