i dont get why they would even do this.

I have it set up to sync calendar events between my google account and my android calendar. When i go to create an event, by default it chooses "my calendar" which doesnt sync.

There has to be an option to make the google calendar the default, right?

and if possible id like to completely remove "my calendar"

its not a matter of the phone as much as it the software the mfg installed. Have you checked in the options of "my calendar"?

checked the options, i can hide "my calendar" but theres no way to disable it or make google the default. even when i hide it it chooses it as the default calendar when making an event. :( stupid samsung. I cant wait for a decent stock rom to come out for this device.

Can you load up the Google Calendar app and create a new event in there? That might force the system to consider what is the current default.

If not, you might need to look around.

Try what was mentioned there:

I figured it out. When you make an entry on your phone in calendar, there is a space in the entry where somehow it says "calendar, and you are given a choice.. an expanded menu if you tap on the arrow to the right. You have to be sure that it is set to the name of your gmail account.. your gmail address. For an entry that you already have on your phone that is not syncing, go to it and tap on edit. On my phone, the "calendar" choice on there is located right above where you can choose "location". Make sure it is set to your gmail email address and then save it that way. I went over all entries on my phone that were not syncing to my calendar (even though entries on my gmail calendar were syncing down to my phone), and one by one they all appeared on my calendar when I synced. And each time I set up a new entry on my phone this way, it will sync perfectly. For what it's worth, my contacts were already set up to sync this way.. to my gmail email address. So that's why they always worked fine, even when first set up on the phone, as opposed to in gmail contacts.
I hope this works for you. My phone is a Samsung Captivate, by the way. I would hope that this is the answer for all phones, though.
