Hey guys, I thought it was normal that when u boot up your computer it asks you for your windows networking password.
I am not on a network now but I am accessing cable internet.

the thing is some of my friends dont have this problem, it aint so bad but I turn on my computer and ten minutes later it hasnt loaded all my programs up because it wants a password,
so i enter it in and it takes like 2 minutes for all my little autorun things to start up. (my computer is pretty slow)

does anyone know how to get rid of this password asking thing and just go straight into windows? if you do it would be great to know,

Thanks,
Sam

right click on network neighborhood, select properties and choose windows logon rather than client for microsoft networks for your primary network logon.

search for all *.pwl files on the computer, then rename them to something like .bak, reboot. when it asks for windows password, leave password blank, click ok, if it asks to confirm password, leave it blank again.

1. kill all the .pwl files.
2. make sure windows is NOT set to use user profiles (then it will ask for a password no matter what) people sometimes forget this one.
3. set logon to "windows logon"
4. restart windows.
5. type in any username and no password. confirm no password.
6. restart windows, you shouldn't get a password prompt.

Forget what everyone above has said and click on START >> SETTINGS >> CONTROL PANEL >> NETWORK. Where it says "primary netowrk log on" select >> "Windows FAMILY logon" If it's not listed there click on ADD >> CLIENT >> MICROSOFT FAMILY LOGON. If you do it this way it will not interfere with your cable modem connection and it will still log you on to Client For Microsoft Networks.
