How do I make my captured AVI's smaller?

Captured using Ulead Video Studio 4.0se, I cant choose a compression option when I'm captureing. and the files always end up being 300 some megs for a minutes worth of video!

Virtualdub and Rad video wont convert it to DiVX, what other choices do I have?
 
I use Virtual Dub to do that. I just got a 23 MB file for a 3 mins capture. Its 320X240@24bits and 128kbps audio.

Download and install the DivX4 codec. I use VirtualDub to convert MJPEG AVI
files to DivX AVI files all the time.
