I have created a song on my piano, and I want to transfer it to mp3 format. I know how to transfer it to MIDI format, but how do I transfer it to MP3 format?

Any special equipment required?

FYI, I am a Concertmate-1000 keyboard piano.

Here's the way I'd do it:

Open up a sound recorder.
Set the input to MIDI.
Play the MIDI.
Stop the recording and save it to the disk.
Open an MP3 Encoder.
Encode the MP3 from the wav.

Also, Will I get superior quality from the MP3 format, or is it just MIDI quality in an MP3 shell?

What is a good MP3 encoder?

Thyme has the right idea, use a sound recording program.

The reason to make MP3 out of MIDIs is so that you can play it on other systems without the music sounding different due to different sound cards. For example, on my dekstop, MIDIs sound very good, and on my laptop, they sound horrible. However, I'd rather get a MIDI version than a MP3 since its much much smaller, and I have a good sound card.

For MP3 encoding check out r3mix.net

If your song is less than a minute, soundrec (under accessories in the start menu) can record it.
I use CDex for my encoding.
