How do i make a tutorial video?

I need to make a tutorial for adobe premiere for school. What is the best way to go about this? Is there anyway i can "record" whats seen on the screen into an avi or mpeg?
Need some help, im stuck....

We use a program called "snagit" here for training materials. You can take screenshots, with or without the pointer, and with some versions you can take "videos" of step-throughs on screen. Im sure you can find an eval version on download.com.
