How do I 'lock' winxp / my desktop?

I was to be able to just password lock my machine without logging out to the welcome screen etc. Is this possible at all?

Thanks.

Ctrl+Alt+Del then click Lock Computer

or create a shortcut on your desktop to do it.

Right-click desktop > New > Shortcut > Location box - type: %windir%\System32\rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation

thanks for the reply, but when I go ctrl-alt-delete, there doesn't appear to be a 'lock computer' option.

Also, creating and executing that shortcut merely seems to log me off back to the user selection screen.

I'm using Winxp pro and have admin rights..

this is odd...the help file (which i should have looked at first, sorry) says exactly the same thing. Except I honest can't see a lock computer button anywhere :Q

This question has been asked a couple of times, and I still don't understand it. The 'normal' NT lock workstation has been replaced by the login screen when fus is enabled. The only difference is that while locked other users can login (this is a good thing). Your programs are still running, you haven't 'logged out' as you suggest. So, hit windowskey-l and go to the login screen, whats the problem?
