How do I limit FPS in games?

So, I just upgraded form an X800 to a 7900GT (nice performance upgrade btw) and everything seems fine except I tried to play NFSMW and it's causing me motion sickness, I enabled vsync and I'm still feeling dizzy, is there an app that will cap the FPS for me? ;)

Use an OC progg like RivaTuner and crank DOWN the GPU/MEM speeds :D Rara avis.

I don't think its the FPS causing you your sickness.

I think its the game in general, it def. gives you the feeling of movement very fast, with the added motion blur I can see this happening.

That would work I think, but NFSMW is the only game making me sick, Madden 07 and Quake 4 are fine, I wouldn't like to mess with the clocks everytime I play a game.

Could be, I'll try disabling motion blur even though I like it.

Just turn on 16x rotated grid AA with RivaTuner. Your FPS will plummet. ;) Some games do have FPS limiters (maxfps in quake/doom engines) but I don't know about NFSMW. CRT or LCD?

It's probably the motion blur that is on by default in that game. I don't think there is any ingame setting to disable it, but you can go into HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\EA GAMES\Need for Speed Most Wanted\ in the registry and set g_MotionBlurEnable to 0. I have it turned off since it can make things quite hard to see when you're going at a decent speed.

^lol. Flight Simulator is the only game I know that is setup to take a FPS cap from the get go (like its a built in in game option on a menu), but that is so the fps remains CONSTANT throughout game play, which is critical in FS. The game is actually very playable down to 12 FPS if that can be locked and maintained (obviously my rig isn't running it at 12 FPS, but my old computer did it very well).

Yeah, it was the motion blur what was making me sick, thanks for the fix ;)
