In Windows XP Pro SP2, how do I limit a user from installing any new programs? I am getting sick and tired of my bro and parents installing ****** Casino games from spy / ad ware companies.

I have already set their account types to "limited" but they can still install softwares. any idea how i can prevent this?

Limited accts shouldn't be able to install anything, but it depends on where the program writes to... See if you can deny them write permission to any folder which the program may be writing to...

there are always work arounds with the default Windows XP non-administrator accounts. you have to modify registry settings and slightly redesign the desktop like libraries have them, so that you only have access to so much where it will be less of a problem for common users not to toggle with advanced settings.

You could probably restrict them with strict group policies but the easiest way would be not let them on your system in the first place. 😉
