How do I let someone know a gift was expensive?

Here's the problem... my mother has a lot of cheap (gold plated) jewelry and tends to break necklaces and lose stones in rings etc.
I decided to get her something nice and got her a solid gold bracelet... but I want her to realize it's not some $40 plated piece of junk from some random department store.
How do I get that message across without saying, "careful with that, it was expensive?"

It's your mom, just tell her not to break it, it cost a little more than the usual you get

I'd rather not do that either. I just want her to know it's not a "disposable" piece of crap like most other things she has.

Forget the receipt in the bag?

Put it in a nice box?

Tell her to throw out the rest of her junk and keep only real jewelry from now on.

Ya, just tell her what it is made out of. That should be enough and if not then you did your part and that is that.

So where did you get it? The pawn shop?

If you bought it some place nice, I would expect they gave you a nice box and all that jazz for it...
