I have a 9:00am court date in East Brunswick, NJ(~1 hour away) tomorrow at 9:00 and it is snowing like a mo fo right now. Is there anyway to know that they are calling a snow day pror to my getting up at some ungodly hour to put on a suit and drive all the way there to find out the judge wants to stay home and play on his gamecube?

The court officially opens at 8:00am and the phone number doesn't even have an answering machine... :|

Just skip court. They will find you guilty in your absense and mail you a bill.

As if you were going to get off, hah.

So if you show up and they don't, can you put a warrant out for their arrest?

Seems kinda biased, if you ask me ;) :p

This is a longstanding thing that has been postponed by me three times and the court once. I have a lawyer representing me and everything.

There are 3 tickets:

Speeding
Driving under a suspended license
Driving without insurance

And without getting into it with all you self-righteous "learn your lesson pay the fine" types, all 3 charges are complete BS.

The speeding tickect was for a "construction zone" where there wasn't any construction (nor had there been recently). It was nothing more than a "construction zone ahead" sign and a radar gun.
The suspension was for an unpaid parking ticket. The warning notices were sent to an address I haven't lived in for 6 years.
I had insurance but didn't have my new insurance card in the glove box.

It sucks, but waking up at 8am to call them and ask is less annoying than being arrested or fined for not showing up.

confused, if you are being represented by a lawyer then isn't it your lawyer problem and not yours as isn't he the one that supposed to go to court and represent you and because its a felony you are not required to be there unless you want to.

Never make another post concerning the laws in the United States again. You don't have a clue ok? You remind me a lot of ylen13.... hmm.

Mwilding- All I can advise is what others have already said. Call the court in the morning and ask, or leave a message on your lawyer's VM and ask him to notify you when he finds out. You might have to start driving and keep your cell phone with you. Only other thing I would consider doing is calling radio stations in East Brunswick and asking them if they have closing information, scour any news site out of EB, call TV stations in their market, or try to find a weather line/school and business closing line that people in that area use.
