how do I know my wireless network is secured?

hi there,

I have a wireless network in my house, which consist of a linksys WAP11 and a laptop with a lucent silver card that hooked up to a linksys cable modem router. Lately, I have noticed that my cable modem data light is always blinking even with all my computers in my house are off. (it might be doing that even before I got the wireless network, I just wasn't paying attention before) so how do I know there isn't anyone tapped into my network to get on the internet? I've used the software netstumbler, and found my AP, and it shows that WEP is enabled. am I supposed to not find it or not? any help is apperciated. Is there a software out there that will let me see how many computers are "hooked up" to my wireless network?

thanks,
rich
