how do i know if the wireless adapter is working ?

Hi,

My friend has this Centrino laptop but it just doesn't seem to be seeing my wireless AP even though it is right beside it. On the laptop, it says the wireless adapter is working fine, but on my AP it doesn't see the laptop too. What could be the problem ?

I'm quite sure my AP is working fine. Was working when I tried it with someone else's laptop which is not Centrino. Could it be that the wireless adapter is in someway broken ? Is there anyway to know that ?

It could be that the laptop and the AP aren't compatible. Is your AP 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g? Likewise, what is the laptop?

my AP is 802.11b. How do I know what is the laptop's ? But a Centrino's wireless should be 802.11b also rite ?
