How do I Know if my USB 2.0 is working?

I have USB 2.0 drive and is there anywhere to know whether it is communicating at USB 1.1 or USB 2.0 speeds?

Transfer a large file, time it, and see if it matches up with the ~480Mbits/second that USB 2.0 allows for.
 
I know that but is there any other way? Like some utility which will tell at what speed the transfer is?
