How do i know if my overclock worked? The number didnt change!

MrDudeMan

i just ordered a duron 800. when the computer starts, it finds it and does everything a computer is supposed to do. well when i go into the bios, i turned the voltage up to 1.8 and tried the stuff at 10x100...didnt work. then i tried 9.5x100...didnt work, and so on back down to 8x100 where it was originally. when i got to 8.5x100 i figured at least that would work, but it didnt. although, maybe it did, and i dont know it. when you OC...will it change the number on the startup screen from 800 to whatever i OC it to? or will it stay at 800 regardless of what i put it at? maybe this will help...system specs: duron 800, pro2-a, 384mb pc133, alpha pal6035 w/ delta, voodoo5, Western Digital 20.5gb@7200, SB live, Blorb on Northbridge, and arctic silver on everything you can imagine =) i have windows 2000 loaded on the HDD, and that is my other problem. the pro2-a has the new d-led, and it has no problems. well when it gets to the first w2k start screen, it hangs...forever. so i am out of ideas and confused...ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

TIA,

Dude

Yes the number should change during the post to reflect your new speed. Did you unlock the Duron's L1 bridges? If not, it won't overclock for you.

ah shoooooot. i knew i forgot to do something! haha well it looks like ive got a little bit of work ahead of me getting that alpha off the mobo =) anyone have a site that could show me how and what to use to connect the L1 bridges?

TIA

one other thing...i have some arctic silver coming in the mail soon. i wanted to try and get it working without it. will this hurt my computer in anyway? i only plan on leaving it un-arctic silvered for about 2 days...please let me know

thanks a lot for the help guys, i got the overclock working. but...it isnt working well, i am gonna start a new thread and ask for help regarding that =)
