How do I know if I have SP1a or SP1 in windows xp?

In the system properties it says service pack 1, but I was told it was SP1a. Is there any way to verify this?

So MS did take out the Java engine in 1A, as I did a reinstall with 1A and I do not have java. I tried the SUN java which I do not like anyway and it also did not work. And worst of all, java aplets just have a red x instead of pointing towards a place to download the Java VM. So it seems that 1A dissabled all java support MS or otherwise.

Is there any way to get the VM from microsoft or do a full SP1 install over my current SP1A install and get the java support back. And were can I actualy find SP1 instead of 1A.

Thanks

And in responce to the main question. Go to IE and look at the about dialog. The version number should say xpsp2 somewere in there while SP1 says SP1, (I think). This I believe is dew to the fact that SP1A has a modified IE without the java support which is realy bugging me.

If you do have SP1A, can you access any java applets or not.

Thanks

if you can find an old Java Machine install, go for it. If you really need SP1, i have it (133), just need a host. I don't think it's worth it for MS Java Machine. I might have the setup for Java Machine, ill look.

The latest JVM build is 3810. That site links to build 3805, an older buggy one with security flaws.

Even if you install SP1A, it should not affect the JVM which was included with Windows XP.

Thanks Sid. The website links worked and once I installed the VM java started working but using the SUN version. I realy don't like the icon, the strange extremely small font as well as that grey line blocking the bottom of every applett which is the unacceptable part. Dissabling the SUN java reverted back to the normal MS VM which looked beautifull and was faster to.

And I also hope Microsoft actualy fixes the service pack to alow java support as nothing other then installing the MS java would get it to work, not even sun's java.

SP1a removed the Java VM. After I installed XP SP1a, I noticed this, and felt lost. But, I installed the sun VM, and actually like it more than the MS VM. For some reason, things seem to load faster than me in the Sun JVM. I also like how I can just double click a .jar, and it opens up correctly, instead of having to type out everything in the command prompt, or make a batch file.
