winver.exe says its Windows Vista Home Premium version 6.0 build 6000

but didnt say in specific whether it is a 64-bit version or 32-bit running on 64-bit machine

I thought on a laptop at work I saw it under control panel, system, system information.

Seems simple, but I thought I saw it there.

No you can't.

But you can easily upgrade to 64bit if you want, talk to the OEM about an upgrade, should be very cheap. No need to upgrade really though unless you are going to use 4GB+ RAM.

That should be 3G+ because the hardware always steals a set of addresses for itself and where that line gets drawn varies depending on the hardware config.
