Thinking of getting a cheap am3 cpu for a quick build, but i have ddr3 ram sticks. So will any am3 desktop cpu use ddr3 ram?

Yes.

It's easy to know because the AM3 motherboard you will pair with the CPU can only physically accept one type of RAM, so if your target mobo accepts DDR3, then any corresponding CPU that will work for the mobo will happily use DDR3 as well.

You're DDR3 RAM will work on AM3 boards and AM3 CPUs.

Yup. They also support DDR2 if you put them in an AM2+ motherboard, but all AM3 boards will take DDR3.

What CPU are you thinking of?
