how do i know how much to inflate my tires?

on the tire itself it says max pressure is 44psi, do i pump it to 44? or am i not suppose to pump it to the max?

No.

Open your drivers side door. There should be a sticker somewhere in the door frame. It should list a tire pressure.

If you can't find it, consult your owners manual.

You may have to tweak if wear is uneven.

Use the recommended pressure that is from your car manufacturer. Most of the time it will be posted on a sticker on the inside (side) of one of the car doors.

Look in your owners manual, if you don't have one there is usually sticker inside the front drivers door or inside the glove box that has the recommended pressure for your tires.

No, you do not pump them to the max listed on the tire.

most passenger car tires are supposed to be between 28-32 psi, but RTM like those ^ dudes said :)

Unless you have a Ford Explorer then you will need to inflate to a normal pressure. Of course Ford says that this makes it ride like a truck. Wonder why?
