Regarding headphone volume and frequency of use.

Now that I'm at college I use my headphones pretty much exclusively. How do I know how much listening for one day is too much for my ears? Is a couple hours a day every day safe? And how do I know how loud is too loud?

I've heard a good rule of thumb on volume is that you should be able to hear yourself speaking in a normal voice. It's probably impossible to use effectively if you have sealed headphones, though (mine are open).

Just know your limits, if it feels "loud," to you, turn it down.

What about frequency?
lower the better
The less I listen to music the better?

Volume I can watch, just not too loud. I just want to know how much time per day is safe at said volume level.
