Hey guys,
I just thought I would ask about this, weird topic but

when I get a paypal payment, at the payment recieved screen, it shows the verified address and all that jazz,
but at the bottom it says " payment type: Instant "

just for protection against scamming, I want to know,

how would I know if I got a paypal payment from a credit card ?
would the payment type value say credit card ?
thanks, doing a deal right now, and before I ship I want to make sure they can't retract the payment.
thanks

Not a weird topic at all. ;)

The payment type would say "Credit Card" or "Combined". And I'm sorry to say, but the buyer can always retract payment. If you shipped to a Confirmed Address though, you get the "Seller Protection Policy."

if its from a credit card, they will have taken out the fee, so you won't get as much

so if the dude sent you $10, you'll only get $10 - 2.9% -$0.30 (or whatever the exact numbers are these days)

I think you have to be more specific here,
I have a business account(I don't even have a business lol) and I get charged for every transaction.
but, if you have a regular account you can't take cc payments or something like that.
I dunno, so here is what I got from the replies:

Buyer can always retract payment, which sucks for me the seller, but is good for me the buyer!
In the "Payment Type" field it will say credit card if its a credit card payment (mine says Instant)
The payer is verified, so I guess I will be ok if I ship a gift card to him and he retracts his payment, maybe they will pay me the lost amount ? I havn't read the seller protection policy.
and some info about fees on credit cards :) j/k

am I right here ?
