How do I keep Quicktime 7.1 from going online?

I don't have automatic update checked, or anything else that would entail going online, but whenever I open a Quicktime movie file offline, it tries to connect automatically. And if I am online, nothing in my browser changes, it's like they're just hounding me for usage statistics or some sh--.

Is there a way to get it to stop? I'd be very greatful to end that annoyance.

Thanks in advance🙂

Try to block it w/ your firewall/router maybe? Apple software is known for this which is why I won't use itunes and only use quicktime when absolutely necessary.

Open ITunes -> Edit -> Preferences -> General Tab

Uncheck:
Connect to Internet when needed
Check for iTunes updates automatically.

Click OK.

See if that helps...

Not sure why it is going online if you have unchecked the "automatic updates" in the QuickTime preferences.
If you use a firewall, just set it to not be able to access the internet. My automatic updates box is checked but I
can't say I remember it dialing home so to speak.. maybe it's cause I rarely use it.
