How do I keep my Dell laptop's screen bright?

Is there a way to keep a laptop screen bright even after unplugging it? I have a Dell Inspiron 6400, and I've been looking through the power options and I can't seem to find it.
 
woot! I think dell also has a dell systems settings utility that they bundle that allows you to include screen brightness as a setting of powerschemes.
 
I have an inspiron 6400 too. Love it. Except that it doesn't have a built in mic, at least not that I can find.
 
Yup, go with the bios if you want to change it permanently. There are settings for screen brightness when it's running on ac/battery.
