How do I join yahoo without giving out my mobile number?

Sorry if this is placed in the wrong section.
I want to know: how do I join yahoo without giving out my mobile number? I had no problem with this last year but this year they are very picky about only having one number to one account. How do I join their site without giving out my mobile?

Hmm, I want to know this too. I joined before it was a requirement but now is it absolutely required? What if you only have a land line, can you give that?

I have had a couple Yahoo E-mail accounts for years and now the idiots keep bothering me about adding a mobile number. Well, I don't have one!

I think gmx.com is better. Free SMTP.

Just looked at the Yahoo sign up. It needs a mobile number. WTF!

I hate this. Gmail often asks for this if I check my mail through the web. For security they say? Give me a break!

A while back a CIA agent was captured in Russia trying to recruit double agents and on the recruitment letter it said to create a Gmail account, but avoid giving out personal details. If it asked for personal details, just restart the registration process again and eventually you could register without giving the personal details.

Not sure if it still works or whether it would work with Yahoo but it's worth a try.

Gmail is the only big free webmail provider which doesn't ask for a phone number. I think they used to but stopped.

. . . and this is the sort of price one pays for some freeware. The end game for the provider is to make money elsewhere, and selling phone numbers to advertisers is but one way.
