Hi there,

I have an Antec blue LED 80mm fan. For some reason its blinking. I'm not sure how to plug it in now because I just read this (i have an 865PERL intel board)

"Connect to a non-variable power connector only. For best performance, Antec recommends that LED fans only be connected to a standard (steady-voltage) 12V DC power connector. If your motherboard or power supply supports fan speed control, DO NOT connect the LED fan to that variable-voltage header or output."

My board supports the variable fan speed. What do i do?!

Thanks much!

Just connect it to a standard 4 pin molex connector coming off of your power supply. Just don't plug it directly into the motherboard.

Thanks. That makes sense. Will it still do the variable fan speed stuff?

Do you think anything bad happened to my mobo because of this?

Thanks!

You will not be able to change the fans speed when connected to a standard molex end unless the fan is designed to be variable speed (ie it has a cord with a speed dial coming out of it). And I doubt anything happened to your mobo.

Or if it has a temp sensor. Then it will speed up as the sensor gets warmer.
