How do I install hardware wall lighting?

Something like this comes with a hardware installation:

Let's say that I wanted to mount it in a segment of the wall with a light switch already on it (so I know the necessary wiring is already a bit accessible) - how hard is this to mount?

Are you replacing a light or want to install a totally new light?

You'll have to contact the store to get assembly instructions. Then you can determine how hard it would be to put up.

Just installing a couple of these totally new. The overhead lighting is relatively dim and there's a good space on the wall for three of those lights that I linked to above. Even if I don't go with that particular model, all of the ones I'd consider are hard-wired because I don't want a cord to be running conspiciously.

There are studs behind the wall. If the switch and where you want to put the light are in the same stud cavity it's easy. If they are in different cavities, then you have to find a way to run the new wiring from the switch to the light. And if you don't know how to do that you may need to call in the professionals.

apartment=landlord=call them first. No way in hell I would do any electrical work in an apartment.

Old construction boxes will be necessary to mount them to. You cut the right sized hole and push them into the opening and adjust some wings to hold the box against the drywall. Connecting to the power source could prove to be more work then you realise, because the switch you are looking at may just be a loop coming down from the a fixture, which does not provide you the correct lines you need to add in another fixture.

Yea, I'll talk to her. But I'm, at this point, trying to plan and figure out if this would be even possible.
