I went to install it on my Vista64 box and the installer complains that I must run setup64 to install in a 64bit operating system but that file isn't on any of the 5 cd's. How do I install it?

I believe 64 bit support was added after release. You might have to download something extra from the website to get it to work.

I purchased the new and improved DVD version of FarCry many years after its initial release.
The DVD had seperate installs available for 32 and 64 bit.

Like others have said you will need to download a bunch of crap if you have an early version.

I downloaded the update patch and ran it but it stops after I select what directory to install it to. The release notes state that the update is for an installed 32bit version.

It looks like I need to install Farcry under a 32bit OS then copy the UbiSoft directory over to my Vista64 box THEN run the 64bit patch.

I was getting frustrated trying to install it on W7 64-bit but it turns out you just need to set setup.exe to compatibility mode to Windows XP SP3 and run as admin ^^

Yup. The 64 bit patch is for WinXP 64 only.
For Vista and 7 you just use compatibility mode. I would have posted that bit of info 2 years ago had I known.
