How do i install an nvidia card into a comp with ati drivers?

My new 7900 GTO arrives in a few hours. My comp thats lying on the floor in pieces has ati catalyst 6.9 drivers in it. But my ati card is kinda borked, i dont really wanna put it back in again. Will it matter if i put the 7900 in? Will windows realise the ati drivers wont work and use a generic driver? Nothing bad will happen?

If so then i can just use driver cleaner and install nvidias latest drivers.

Nothing bad will happen. Basic 2D functions like Windows should work.
