How do I install a Linksys Wireless pci card letting XP manage it to do this?

Hello,
I need to install a Linksys WMP54G wireless card in a desktop pc allowing XP to manage the card instead of using the Linksys software.

The linksys wireless router it will connect to does not broadcast the SSID. When it is set up I want it to be the only access point it will try to connect to. In other words, if the router is unplugged for some reason, I don't want XP searching for other wireless networks and trying to connect to the neighbors' routers.

Thanks,
BGC

When the SSID is Off the Wireless tend to be unstable and most utility can not control the Wireless because the SSID is the variable that they need to work with.

In order to use The Windows Utility (WZC) you have to make sure that the Linksys original Utility is not loaded and working.

This might help with WZC, http://www.ezlan.net/wzc.html

Once it is working what ever you can manipulate with thses menus is what XP can do with Wireless.

Uncheckedthe Auto. Connect to None Preferred network, and clean the preferred list so thta only your SSID is there.

I'm getting a funny issue with the same device in XP WZC, whenever I plug or unplug an usb it would disconnect for a sec or two from the network. Coming to think of it I get the same with the linksys software. Dunno if that's related to the XP or the part itself, a friend of mine is having no problems on Vista with the same. Plz let me know if you encounter similar problems.

Regards
