How do I inialize a new hard drive?

I have just installed a new secondary hard drive. It has no OS on it. Jumpers are set to CS, on both drives.. The new drive is recognized in the bios and when posting. The primary HD has XP on it. The new drive is not recognized in my computer. I believe I have to inialize the new drive and perhaps format it. Can someone guide mt thru this procedure please? Thanks in advance.

if you need to format, i always use Fdisk...go to bootdisks.com....they have a great procedure there

Why do that when he can go into Computer management and then into Disk Management.

Fdisk rocks. I remember having to use it everytime I had to reformat win98.
