Hi all,
To be honest, I am a bit nervous about this test. I use excel everyday at work but it's not the same thing when I am being tested. Most of my excel skills come from my job experiences. I know most of the basic stuff but nothing advanced. The staffing company that i had an interview with said their clients want someone with at least an intermediate skill level, macro and lookup knowledge would be superb. Well, that's where my weakness is. I have almost no knowledge in macro and very limited experience in lookup. I don't have any excel book to study and they want me to take the online test as soon as possible. Am I doomed? :(

This is for a tax accountant position if that helps.

Please...I need some help getting back to workforce. :(

From your description of the situation, yes. You can't learn to write macros overnight.

Lookups are not that hard and the basics can be learned fairly quickly. Using the macro recorder and then looking at and modifying the recorded macro is probably the easiest way to get a basic understanding of macros/VBA, but that doesn't necessarily mean you'll know it well enough to do anything useful with it. The site mentioned above is a pretty good one. Or try hitting your local library and checking out an intermediate level excel book with some good examples. That way, you can hit a few different more advanced topics. Good luck.
