how do i hook up my dvd recorder

im trying to hook up my dvd recorder i just bougt through my cable box

i hooked up the cable in to the cable box...then ran components from cable box to recorder...then ran components from recorder to tv....i hooked up component digital audio wire from recorder to reciever...hooked up fiber optoic from cable box to reciver.....the recorder works and gets a picture...but when i turn it off i get sound ffrom the cable but no pictuire


im confused how do i do this

my model recorder is a phillips dvdr3400
