How do I hook up my DVD player or PS2 to my z560 via optical?

I was checking around on Creative's site and found one of these Digital I/O daughter cards. They have Optical IN via Digital IN port. Would it work if I hooked up my DVD player or PS2 via optical into the daughter card's Optical IN port and play it out thru my computer speakers?
