My computer will not start anymore. How do I hear error post codes nowadays? The case has no speaker of course. Can I just plug in my headphones to the motherboard? Do I have to buy a speaker?

Search google for 'mini buzzer for motherboard'. It will show you pictures and eBay links to get some. I'm on my phone or I'd copy the link and use the Forum code to insert the link.

Yeah, if the mobo has the speaker connector, get a speaker for it.

If not, I'm not sure what you are supposed to do.

You have to use a mini speaker connected to the onboard header to hear any beeps. Some motherboards have led readouts and others will post the codes on the monitor as the mb goes through the post process. You might try your local radio shack and see if they sell any motherboard speakers. Does your board have any status led's on it? If so what are they telling you? When you say it won't start, what exactly is it doing?

Thanks for the tip batmeat. I ordered some. Turns out you power supply is bad even though all the voltages check out. I swapped a different power supply in.

No problem. Those mini buzzer speakers have saved my butt more than once.
