I want to convert some cassets to mp3.
Rather than recording the whole thing in wav and then converting that, can't I go straight to mp3?

Some recording programs let you record directly to MP3.

Messer can do it with the LAME dll. It hasn't been updated in 2 years but it still gets the job done.

I know that CoolEdit Pro 2.0 will let you record from an input then save off the recording to an mp3 file, or many other various formats. It uses temp space for the recording, but you never get a wav file, and you only use one program...

Bah, just do it to wav, then convert the wavs with Easy CD File Converter. (uses fraunhoffer codec)

Search for a thread by me where I asked about a radio station. It has exactly the program you are looking for :)
