How do I go about locking an LCD down?

I have a Viewsonic VP171b.

There's no place for a lock (I can't find one anyway). I don't want to drill a hole in it... What else can I do?

Also, do you think it's necesary to lock down the desktop?

Your LCD doesn't have a small oval shaped hole on it somewhere for a laptop cable lock?

Also, yes, I'd recommend locking down the desktop too. We've had some of our smaller machines walk out of the building in backpacks, etc.

Edit - Specs on your monitor says it has a "Kensington® security port" built into it.

If it doesn't have a hole and you aren't willing to drill one, then you just need to find some extremely strong tape or glue :)

Can't find it. Saw it mentioned on the European pdf manual thing. Not the American one.

Just stand there holding a weapon for the rest of the LCD's life.

Seriously, try plubmers tape (the metal straps) and bolt it to the wall or desk. Otherwise...

The plumbers tape is actually a decent idea. You could probably paint it if you care about how it looks. To be really secure you will probably hate to put a hole in the LCD though.

Another idea if you have a LCD with thin stand that it does not remove is to get a big schackled master lock and put it around the base and then chain the lock to something.

I had to connect the LCD to the stand. So that wouldn't be all that useful...
