How do I go about buying a Rabbit for my Mom and a Hamster for my Cat?

I'm trying to get a rabbit for a Christmas gift for my Mom. She wants one. I checked at Petsmart.com and searched for rabbits. I see stuff (food, toys, books, etc) for the rabbits but not rabbits themselves. Are rabbits hard to get for a home pet? How much does each cost typically?

thanks,

Check your local animal shelter and you can probably get one for whatever the adoption fee is. Does your mom know everything that is involved in caring for a rabbit?

I prefer to buy... I'm sure some stores gotta sell rabbits. No, she doesn't know anything about rabbits other than wanting to pet him/her.

look on creiglist pets. you will find one there.

Also call a store like Farm and Fleet. they may have ways to get one.

I think she'd rather have a squirrel. Endless hours of amusement, and she'll never lack for things to do.

Edit:
Also give her a copy of Yakety Sax. That'll be the new soundtrack for her life.

I have a white one, but it's better than cheaper rabbits because it's actually whiter than white. My eyes can see more shades and colors than most people, so you might not be able to tell so you'll just have to trust me.

I think squirrels tend to bite... She wants a rabbit.

You are going OT. Let's stick with rabbits....

Ewww..... you guys are something. The OT section of the forums is a very different world than all the rest. I even heard guys cussing (F words) too. Are all these inappropriate things allowed in this area? I'm getting all these crazy replies already OMG.

Anyways, I think I will just drive over to Petsmart and see if they got any... I don't think internet shopping is an idea for pets.

Like what? keeping her cleaned? Do they sh#t a lot? I also heard they shed? Is it worse than cats?

Guys, question #2. (I updated my thread topic) My pussy cat (she) is lonely at home when I'm gone for work. She is the only one in the house. If I get her hamsters that would keep her busy I think. If I keep hamsters locked in the litter box the cat can't do nothing other than looking at them. What do you guys think?? Hamsters are so cute.....

Comments?

umm thanks?

Yeah this is either a troll, or OP is one weird mofo.
I'm not trolling, but I am an entertainer. I am famous! ^_^ Surprised you didn't know me yet.

But seriously, my cat needs something. I think she's bored and lonely when I'm gone for work. I don't want her to get depression.

This will end well.

Save yourself having to put it down or give it away and don't even get one.

Why? This isn't for myself. It's for my MOMMY..

I mean... does it take a book to know about Rabbits before buying? You've got to be kidding..... it should not take more than 3 minutes to read up about it. You must be new to pets. ^_^

I have a rabbit, and I'm going to tell you if your mom isn't willing to put in a LOT OF WORK and doesn't possess A LOT OF PATIENCE, you don't want a young, adolescent rabbit. Once they hit their teenage phase, they will destroy your place and you'll be wondering why the hell you got one, if it's going to be an inside house rabbit.

Adopt an adult. They'll be fixed and they make much better pets when they are fixed. They're not hard to litter box train, but rabbits chew, and they can eat your carpet, base board, furniture legs, and most dangerously, your electrical cords which could kill them or start a house fire.

There's a ton of info here for caring for pet rabbits: http://rabbit.org/
