I don't know what changed... not all of the time but most of the time... When I open a .wmv link it opens it on the sidebar in Internet Explorer.

I don't want that. I want windows media player to come up seperatly.

Can someone help me here??

All I know, is this started after d/ling 2 patches from MS, but I don't see what that had to do with it, as they were just security patches.

TY

PS Here would be an example link that comes up in the sidebar now for me, when it always used to just launch winmedia player on its own.

Terry Tate

**Edit** Ok...this is getting more annoying.. That link above if I click on it now from this thread... it open WinMedia player on its own.. but if I were say sent the link... or if I copy it and paste and hit enter.. then it opens it up in that damn sidebar. (Which is what I don't want)

Go into IE, open the sidebar, there is a preference you can set that says Always open in IE, I am not EXACTLY sure where it is. You might want to try the advanced options under the tools menu of IE (i am using an old crappy computer right now, and I can't see the options cuz I have different ones). There might be an option in Windows Media player - something like - always open in IE... I don't know EXACTLY like I said.

Kewl, thanks I found the setting... I wonder how that got ticked to be on. Since until this happened, as I said I never used that sidebar. Weird.
