How do I get video thumbnails back in XP folder views ?

deftron

I messed around with my default file extension settings..
I made BS Player and WinDVD the default players of some video files that used to have WIndowsMediaPlayer as the default player.
I noticed that the thumbnails option in folder view didn't work anymore...it just showed the file type icon.
I set the default player for all video files back to WindowsMediaPlayer...still no thumbnails 🙁

Here's a link to someone with the same problem..but they were no able to fix it.

Has this happened to anyone.. have you been able to go back to thumbnail veiws ?

some videos show a picture thumbnail in xp but no video previews like w2k has. i dont think theres a way to get that back. if there is i havent heard it yet.

Let me know if this is what you wanted...

In explorer, go to the directory you want, go to view, and check "thumbnails"

I think that is what you are talking about.

Yes... Folders...Views....Thumbnails... is selected.

It just wont show thumbnails ever since I changed default players for some video files (mpeg, avi)

I changed default player back to WindowsMediaPlayer and I still cant get thumbnails like I used to

I think it must be a registry line somewhere that was overwritten when I changed default players....
