How do I get to the rest of my HD?

I just got a new 160GB HD... and because it's larger than 137GB, i'm having problems with it.

As it is, I partioned a small 5GB one to install windows on, then I partitioned another 122GB portion for everything else (I needed to get to the space)

I can't figure out how to get to the last 30 or so GB. I don't really want to partition another drive of that size... I'd rather have two partitions, one of around 15 or 20GB and the rest on another. Do I need software for this? Can I do it in Windows?

I've tried using the Windows XP disk and that little "diskpart" program, but it doesn't show me all the extra space. I've already downloaded all the updates to XP, so everything SHOULD be working... but I just don't know how to do it.

Any suggestions?

What motherboard do you have. Maybe it needs a BIOS update?

Determine your mother board / chip set / processor. If you are using an Intel Processor you can go to the Intel web site and download a program to help you determine your chip set.

Intel Processor Frequency Utility
Intel Chipset Identification Utility

Once you have determined the above you can install the following:

Intel Application Accelerator

That should allow you to utilize your entire HD. It has to do with your pc not having the latest drivers and your current drivers not supporting the full capacity of your new HD.

Be carefull because if you do not install the correct drivers data on that drive may become unaccessible at any time.

FYI - I have a 200 GB drive that I recently had to perform the above tasks on in order for it to register fully.😉

I've got the Asus A7N8X-Deluxe... I just updated the BIOS to 1007.

I don't use intel, I use AMD... so I guess I can't use that stuff.
